Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. At age five, she was moved to Oxfordshire, where she went to Dragon School. Emma realized when she was six that wanted to be an actress. Over the course of several years, she studied at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she learned singing, dancing, acting and much more. She was a stagecoach actress and played the lead in several Stagecoach productions. In 1999 the casting process started for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) it was the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by casting agents through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight consistent auditions David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants) that they had been selected to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the cinematic screen was the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film was the biggest-selling film of 2001 , both in terms of weekend and opening-day sales. The film's performance and that of its three stars were praised by critics. The highly distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph has praised her performance as "admirable". Emma won the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in a Film Film, and was later nominated for five other awards. Emma gained fame following the film's first success in the franchise. Hermione Granger remained her role for nearly 10 years in the Harry Potter films. Emma was awarded two Critics' Choice Award nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
