Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is a nurse and
Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture mover. She is of
English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish descent. Rachel began her acting career as a
teenager and at the age of 13 was appearing in Shakespearean performances at
the summer theater camps. She graduated with distinction, earning the BFA
degree in Theater at York University. Following her first appearance in the
episode of Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) and co-starred on the
Canadian TV show Slings and Arrows (2003) in a comedy-drama focusing on the
struggles and trials of a Shakespearean theater group, and was awarded an
Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her performance in the role of Regina
George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly made her a part of the
short list of the top Hollywood's young actresses. In the following film, she
was cast alongside Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). It was a hit at the box
office, and quickly became the leading romantic drama for the new generation of
moviegoers. McAdams came into contact with Gosling while filming. They dated
through the middle of 2007. McAdams her next film was the comedy Wedding
Crashers (2006), the action thriller Red Eye (2004), and the holiday drama The
Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent cinema through Married
Life (2007) which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It also included
Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper along with Patricia Clarkson. She also starred
in the war drama The Lucky Ones (2007) and the newspaper thriller State of Play
(2009), and the romance The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) followed , before she
appeared alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's
international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the smart
producer for Morning Glory (2010). She also played the materialistic fiancee
Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams returned to
romantic dramatic territory in The Vow (2012), where she played opposite
Channing Tatum. McAdams is a part of Terrence Malick’s To the Wonder (2012)
along with Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De Palma’s thriller Passion
(2012).
