Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30 1977. American electro-house musician as well as record producer, D.J. & music executive. He's the 3rd child of Chizuru Kobayashi and Rocky Aoki. His father, a former wrestler, co-founded the restaurant chain Benihana. He has two older brothers, Kana (sometimes known as Grace) and Kevin (owner Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister's model and actress is Devon Aoki. He grew up in Newport Beach, California & graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1995, where he was on the team for badminton on the varsity. He went on to UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a 2nd B.A. He was awarded two degrees, one in sociology, and another in feminist studies. He was a college student who recorded his own music and held underground concerts in his Biko space at Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a performance venue when the building was known as The Pickle Patch. The owner was also involved in student activities at UCSB. He created a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. In his 20s, Dim Mak had started his own record company, known as Dim Mak after his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. In March of 2010 the artist dropped I'm in the House, a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq-alter-ego of The Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. It made it to No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in the first week. The song later made it onto the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, peaking within the top 5 in both charts. The song was featured on the MTV show Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man. HitQuarters interview in May 2010 with Lucas Secon revealed that Rivers Cuomo and he had just recorded a song together. Pollstar has named him the highest-grossing North America dance artist from tour dates in 2012. He has collaborated w/ artists like Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is known for his remixes of artists like Kid Cudi
